Hi Johno, the HR214 was the first model and has a bar type single blade, whereas the HRU214 (improved model) has a blade disc with swing back blades, it also has individual height adjusters....Both are 4 HP Japanese manufactured engines, both with metal cowling (versus plastic) and both have "HONDA" cast into the engine block with a serial number. wink
