It seems odd for Victa to get even more mileage from this mould than they already had, when they were going for a new lower profile look with the starter now at the side instead of the top. Why make the motor stylistically like the previous cup starter series with the needless height on top that no longer houses a pull starter?
My guess is it was an economical way to offer more styles in their line up with different packaged looks at different price points for marketing purposes.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
