Must be a pre 81 base as the engine is facing north south, IE: head facing rear. The 81 -on full crank ute base had the engine east west like all side pull full crank engine mowers, to prevent the operator having to start it from the right hand side.
One advantage of the cup start engines was the motor could face the rear or the side and have the pull start facing the rear either way. Not so with the side pull.
