Welcome aboard the ODK Forums.

You have posted in one of the two correct areas, but as this is an engine related issue this is probably the better option, so congratulations on that bit. You've passed the test with flying colours.

Now as far as your issue is concerned these carby's if I'm correct have that small short pick up that goes into the start up bowl of the tank as they can't seem to be able to suck up from the bottom of the tank on start up. Once running they take their fuel from the long tube. Anyway that's how it's been explained to me previously.

Now as how to get around it will be probably best explained by either Jack, Norm or Gadge and I'm sure one of those well learned blokes should be able to help you out. Norm is a fabulous wealth of information on small engines and frequents here rather often, so I'm hoping he can get you out of that pickle in no time.
