I've recently been pulled back down the rabbit hole by a chance introduction to a collector in the southern highlands, after the loss of my collection years ago I'd very much moved focus to other hobbies, collections and obsessions, then, working one day in a small town paint store that happens to do custom arosol cans, I notice a chap in getting a colour match done on what I recognise instantly as the catcher flap from an early 60's victa Corvette... after a chat, I'm riffling storage for the few scant parts I have boxed away and my very dusty Victa history library... and before I know it I'm tracing model no's, serials, histories and within only weeks, so far into wonderland even Alice couldn't get me out now!

Anyway, my trawling lead me back here, of course, while tracking down info on a villiers engine fitted to a TAD mower, and sure enough, I start the day with a photo and a serial no. and thanks to a few Q&A Threads in the archives and CyberJack's NLA worthy histories, I finish up not just with the engine identified, but the home address of the TAD founder at the time of the company's creation....

The info I found for serials, the list archived here of Midget MKII & III serials for Australian engines covers a lot, but this as it always is with these things, one will never be enough and now there is a list of serials I'm curious to find... My question? Who knows/has what info on Villiers serials? I'd like to see if I can't compile this all together somehow to create a single spreadsheet that anyone can use to make what can be made of these serials.... I've never had any major complaints in my life to make about either worms or cans, so I figure it's a challenge worth taking on to compile this info... so, what does the brains trust know about villiers serials? can we get this info all together into one place?

Cheers
Ty

G'day Mr Davis and IanOZ
This is such a difficult topic...

The docs I have are - like all docs - point-in-time, and belie the big picture.
Given that it is unlikely that production docs will emerge now, the best hope will
be in a register, as Ian implies.

This is serious detective work.

Many thanks to Forum Historian Mr Davis for pursuing this!
