Hi all,

I recently picked up a VC auto drive for a good price, however it will need a little work. It looks like it will need a new drive cable and lever (black plastic type lever), one of the handlebar catcher mounts is gone, has no blade disc or catcher. Other than than, the body and wheels seem in good condition, cowl is ok other than a crack at the front, has the fuel tank with the clear prism style level indicator. Throttle housing is missing its cap and cable is seized, but that’s not tooo hard to fix. I guess firstly I am after a drive lever so I can get this going. I’m pretty sure I have a blade disc off a full crank utility or something. Will this fit? Catcher stuff I can worry about if I get it going. I’ve had the obligatory google but couldn’t find anything other than drive belts. Any info of where to look would be great.

Cheers,

John

G-day jds303,

they're a great looking mower but the specific auto drive only catcher will be like gold dust. Not impossible though, but you'll likely need to buy another complete mower to get it. That will allow you to swap the best bits around.
The blade disc will be the same I'm pretty sure, as long as it's from an 18" wide cut machine.
I wish you luck in getting this quality mower back on the road, even if it's mainly an exhibit for occasional use. The catchers are just too hard to get.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Hi Mowerfreak,

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll keep looking. Might have to sit this one in the garage for a while until I find another for parts.

Cheers,

John
