Hi Iβm Ollie and I have recently aquired a Scott bonnar 40 reel mower it is a little rough round the edges due to poor storage a bit of oil seeping out plug missing catcher but I started her up on first pull after I sticking pull cord and realising I forgot fuel tap!! Anyone have any idea of age, whether it worth doing a resto what are these worth restored v unrestored or worth more as parts? Any infomuch appreciated thanks Ollie
My best advice to you since you've never owned a cylinder cut mower is to simply get this one up and fully mechanically serviceable and see how you like using it.
If you are really happy with it then I'd advance on to your eventual goal, but if not then you've left it pretty much original and ready for someone else to tackle cosmetically.
Cheers, BB.
I live a 24 Hour lifestyle, but every now and again I seem to fall asleep, well at least that's what my wife tells me.
Yes that will kind of be the idea, I donβt think it needs to much work. I have sourced a catcher, just needs a little metal work, but need to try and find a throttle cable and work out the brake as it doesn't work the best ! Any pointers on locating these parts? I have one shop here which apparently has a few spares for these old girls but not open till Monday! Also paint I saw on another post someone had what paint was used, not sure where one would find this matching paint or whatever is closest ?
