Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has a spare Air Cleaner / Throttle Control Housing Cap laying around not being used. I picked up a Victa yesterday and it's back up and running after cleaning out the carby and freeing up the needle and seat.

All that's missing from it is that squarish style air filer cap at the rear of the throttle to finish it off and have it go back into usable service.

Look forward to hearing from anyone that's able to help me out.

Cheers,
BB.

Big problem with the square ones BB is the caps don't hang on like the round ones do and 50% of the ones I get are missing the caps and on epray the want $15 for new ones. I managed to snag a bag of second hand ones last year from somewhere for $5 ea and I jumped on it. If nobody else jumps up I can send you one.

Sounds like he didn't need to use the flattery anyway.

Hi Norm,

That's excessive that's for sure. This really could've gone at letter rate as it's not very thick at all. That would've made it go for $2.00. I sent a small thicker than normal remote control for a Kenwood car audio system to Victoria for the mentioned figure. What I find is that some Australia Post franchises stitch you up for the most expensive way thus they get more out of it while good staff know how to send cheaper which in-turn keeps the customer happier and more return business.

Generally though it's the former method that's implemented.

cheers,
BB.

That's if there is any competition and as we know there isn't any for Australia Post with small stuff.

Mind you for anything larger that you would use a box for there are many options now available.

I use the following online service which give you plenty of options,

www.interparcel.com.au

Most items that will cost around $30 via AP can be sent substantially cheaper via Couriers Please through Interparcel for around $12.00 and that's a door to door service as well but only from metropolitan area to metropolitan. Regional is a totally different kettle of fish where AP is mostly a cheaper option I've found.

Check it out for yourself.

Cheers,
BB.

Problem was I asked Jean if she could post it for me while she was up the street, If they had told me the price I would probably have told them to belt it and walked out.

Hi Norm,

Sadly most of these AP outlets now are owned by foreigners and they're not in the business of saving us any money whatsoever.

They are lining their own handsomely as they are now losing bill paying services left, right and centre, thus their income is subsiding rapidly with all the direct debit online payments now being the done thing.

I'm just so glad that some of these courier services are making huge in roads to belting AP around good and proper as they've been stiffing us for way too long now. It's called a reality check.

Cheers,
BB.

Just like newsagents these days. Here in Ettalong we have the rare instance of the local post office staffed by Anglos/Europeans and the same with the local newsagent. How long -who knows?

I had a small parcel delivered yesterday by AP, first I got a message on my phone the day before that it was arriving the next day. Then I think I got 2 emails telling me it was going to arrive today and to make sure dogs are locked away, later I got a notice that it had been delivered so I went and looked and where did I find it, it was in the letter box, I guess that is where I would expect it to be. Then I got another email from them asking me to rate their performance. I gave them a 1 out of 10 they they asked why I gave this response. My reply was "you put it in the letterbox where I believe you are being paid to do, you don't need a pat on the back for doing that" Then I gave them an ear full about the cost of sending an item weighing a few grams to SA and that if I could avoid sending anything ever again using AP I would. They have not responded and they have not asked me for any feedback on the items delivered today, I guess they don't like me now.

They only like to have their tyres pumped up and not let down.
