Good morning Converse, Maxwestern and all,
the great Peter Wherrett campaign. Have been seeing some of his classic (power)Torque episodes this week courtesy of YT.
I happen to have one of those in my collection, found in the rubbish pile of a mower repair business it so happens. I won't mind 100 more of them. One of my favourite models.
Enjoyed the Rover commercial too.

G'day Mowerfreak,

Yes I have also noticed the great footage of the ABC's Torque episodes recently appearing on you tube, i'm glad some of this great old classic footage has been saved and is now being shared with the public.

I just watched the road test with the XC Ford Fairmont GXL, it's always been very hard to find anything for the XC model when they were new, this is great to watch. You see quite a few tv ads for the XB and the XA and some earlier falcon models. But the XC really hasn't much to see at all apart from a TV ad on youtube from 1978 that's been online for yonks.

Glad to see something new uploaded with some Aussie motoring history! grin

I loved that they filmed it in 1976, the year that model came out.

Found this classic Victa Ad.

Nice classic old ad there Mowerfreak, like most ads from back in those days they all had jingles. I think they were great and there should be more ads like these made now.

In this ad we have Ford racing legend Allan Moffat advertising Victa lawnmowers. I reckon he's thinking now if only you could option one of these mowers up to a "Bathurst Special", it would be great!

Can you imagine this..."Now here's Victa's new 500 Bathurst special mower, with a new 351 cubic inch Cleveland V8 engine, purring smoothly, quietly up the final fairway, what a fine finish, and what a champion! LOL!

Cheers!

Good ad.

May as well show this campaign from 1974 showing probably their peak. It shows how successful Victa was when they could pull a long haired Tony Bonner out to wink at the camera.

Haha the golden age of Victa Lawmowers!

Victa was celebrating their 4 millionth mower back then, I just celebrate when I find any Victa 2 strokes now...lol

Ahh haha classic Peter Wherrett. Nowadays, those overseas buyers would be considered typical locals now lol.

Here's a delight I found. Note the box they're using as a receptacle for clippings would be worth more than the mower. shocked

Ha yes that's a pretty rare catcher there, a bit like with some old cars the rego is worth more than the car..lol

Now for some reason this ad featured here and it's preview looks very familiar to someone's avatar on these forums...lol

Cheers!

You got me blush.

These days yes. I was actually referring to the Victa cardboard box the mower came in, that the kids are emptying the catcher into.

The mowers in this ad look suspiciously easy to pull the starters from removing the starter pawls. Abit misleading to consumers if you ask me. smirk

Ah yes the cardboard box for the previous ad, I missed that one.

Yes the good old green Victa Mustang, that's a great store, as long as all you want is a green Victa Mustang! LOL! Because that's all they have in that mower shop! haha!

Check out this old mower ad from the UK.

Cheers!

I really enjoyed that one and it wasn't because of the mower either! smile

Since we're expanding to overseas, here's one from the U.S.

Very good MF but did you see how long the grass was after he had cut it, I guess if he cut it any lower it would have left ugly clumps of lawn clippings behind

Also the narrator called that long grass. Nothing compared to what a Victa 2 stroke can power though.

G'day yes that was just a trim on that grass, let's see it cut through backyard jungle! LOL!

I have to include this classic Victa Vortex ad, I think it's the last classic Victa commercial we haven't posted here yet...lol grin

Completely forgot about that one.

Here's a Snapper ride on ad from 1975. It features a vacuum attachment for the clippings. eek

Not a bad ad there Mowerfreak, that reminds me I do see some mowing contractors around here actually using ride on mowers now to do the nature strips and yards when years ago they were using walk behind mowers. The nature strips aren't that big but I guess it's alot faster and easier as they mow heaps of places all day.

Well here's a clip just for a laugh! LOL! grin

G'day all garden machinery video lovers

Mowerfreak, those Snapper products sold well here.
They were solid designs too!

G'day everyone,

Well here's an ad for Masport mowers, this guy has had his Masport mower for 31 years.

Well I can make an ad for Victa and say that i've had my Victa Commando mower for 37 years! and it's still going strong!

Cheers!

G'day Mowerfreak and all vidsters
This is getting close to the bone for this company.

Sears, Roebuck & Company - a proud enterprise founded in 1893 -
is now struggling to survive. It was once such an American giant.

Many thanks for sharing

FYO: 'Craftsman' was an original trademark of Sears.
My best guess is that that brand name was not trademarked in AUS -
enabling the MSAA and others to use it here.
