G'day all, Nice to meet you all. If you want me, I'll be in the Victa two stroke section. Going to try to keep mine running for as long as I possibly can! I've got a decent one that is reliable as the sun, but looks like it has a bit of piston scoring. Got it off gumtree for not much. I have two others that are certainly gumtree specials, ready for me to tinker with before I do my first engine "rebuild" of any kind. See you around the place.

Hi Mystyler welcome here, these 2 strokes are the best. If yours is still running ok, don't worry too much about the scoring. Is it a full crank or Powertorque?

Thank you Ted and Norm. Almost every time I searched for something regarding Victas, this forum popped up.

Norm, they're all PTs. There was a VC160 on Gumtree a little a couple of weeks ago. It must have only lasted a day...!

Might have been a good thing as I don't have a whole heap of room.

"My" mower runs very well. Starts first time, every time. Exhaust port a bit blocked by carbon and the piston is scored, like I mentioned. It's holding about 80 psi though. The other two are a bit rough, but seem to have good cylinders and blocks. Heaps of perished seals and ignition rubbers though, one is even missing the air filter cap and has more holes in the snorkel than a politician's argument.

That said, the "better" mower is only getting 50 psi (up from about 10 psi!), the other 90 psi. Confirmed one dead decompresor, too.

Fun times ahead!

Hi Mylstyler, you just made me think of something, I have at least 40 non running PT's here and I never check the exhaust ports, never even think about it, if it won't fire I just put it in the non running bin. I might go back one day and check them but I think they have all been straight fueled

Have a look, I couldn't believe how much crap there is in mine. Still running though! Dunno why this one is so coked up. The other one I've removed the muffler from is nowhere near as bad. Bit of discolouration on the skirt makes me think old fuel at some stage before I got it, but I'm new to this engine diagnostic/rebuild game.

Mystyler, at this stage all that is wth doing with these PT's is if the bore is not damaged and you feel you want to rebuild it then a hone and a set of rings is all that is worth doing cost wise. If you can find somebody who can rebore (getting harder all the time now) the cost of that and new piston/bearings becomes cost prohibitive
