Hello speedy
That's a great memory there smile

These are rare machines today, and clearly had limited success then ...
These were the Qualcast Lawnspeeds and Rotor Mowers.

Post-WWII Qualcast lost its way here.
Immediate post-war the power-mower designs were decidedly 'old'.
The pushies were modernised but the AUS machines were their equal.

Qualcast attempted to enter the rotary market here and their first
rotaries were North American inspired, and probably influenced
by the wishes of the UK's parent company.

These designs were way-behind what AUS was doing at this time.
Australia led the field in rotary designs at this time (in my opinion).

In any case, when Qualcast left Australia, the name lived on with
re-branded Turners. A disappointing end here to a great name that
is symbolic of the start of the Australian lawnmower industry.

I like your expression 'odd wheel'!

Cheers
