Thanks Jeff they had to use the spacer on the PT bases, but on the newer bases they don't need to because they are designed for Briggs motors only, the base is 20mm higher in the middle compared to a PT base to lift the motor up. I haven't checked the ally ring to see if a PT will fit. I can post you one if it does.

Thanks Norm,

Worth trying to see if it is possible. From your photo it looks like only the area in and around the Briggs bolts is thick enough to re drill so we might have to be lucky for it to work. I still do not know if I need it yet as the pulley is still waiting on lathe tools from China. I think I will because the FC needed spacers and FC's and PT's are the same shaft length.

Thanks for the offer to post one. Pretty hard to come by an ally one these days I would imagine. Lets see if its needed.

All the best

Hi Jeff I checked the spacer ring and as I thought 2 holes line up but the third hole is off a bit and where it is on the ring is a rib that might make drilling it a bit of an issue but not too big of an issue.

You could bolt the two down and use the third spacer as a guide and drill through that, either by mounting it under or over the chassis.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Thanks Norm and MF,

I thought that might happen. Is it just a rib where the drill might slip off? After thinking about those plastic ones at Bunnings, the plastic is just a skirt to fill up the gap between deck and engine. The metal spacers just clip in don't they. I wonder if I could just grind off the third clip, then use a zip tie to locate the metal bush. The plastic ones at Bunnings look to be flexible plastic.

I still do not know if I will need it. I'll have to wait until those lathe tools arrive on the slow boat from China.

All the best
Jeff

Jeff the spacers in the plastic ring just clip in, as you say you will have to wait and see, then if need be I can make up some spacers to whatever height you need, probably the easiest way. The plastic ring is quite flexible, I wouldn't bother using it.

Hi all,

I had another look at this the other day, and found the deck wouldnt lower all the way to the lowest point without the connecting link fouling on the front of the deck near the wheel. I had a look at the other connecting link I had, and the victa parts manual, and there are 2 different part numbers for the decks with and without the plastic height adjuster. I popped the e clips out of the two axle connecting links on the 2 mowers, swapped them over and got the full range of height adjustment out of both decks. So I guess if anyone is swapping between decks with plastic height adjuster and handle etc. for whatever reason, you may need to swap over the axle connecting link.

Cheers,

John
