Hi Phil
I think you may have (or what remains of) a Victa Automatic there.
There was a plate with a little red knob in the middle for controlling cold start and regular running,
the plate attached to these brackets. Not 100% sure, but certainly looks that way

It happens to me a fair bit - I find it's usually a missed letter when the address is highlighted at the beginning or end.

But then again, at least with the marvel of Domain Name System (DNS), we don't have to type in full IP addresses - imagine trying to link one of those.
