Hi Guys,
Sorry for the confusion, I thought everyone knew what a Chonda was, seems I was wrrrrrrrrrrong.
I'm just about to buy a recoil starter assembly to get one going that I have sitting on a 20" Scotty. Honestly at the price the whole engines are I'm starting to wonder why I'm buying the starter. I guess I just can't get my head around disposing of anything that still works and very well I might add.
Cheers, BB.

Thanks BB, i found some online. To me it comes down to being comfortable with a "guarantee" that this will be a straight swap onto mine... I understand there are 2 shaft sizes to be aware of however not sure i feel right buying a chonda without exactly knowing it will fit. There are brief measurements on there ebay listings however one of the suppliers for the briggs was able to check the model number of my current engine to confirm their latest briggs will fit with confirmation in writing.

Hi Mb,
If you buy a 5.5 HP TWM Chonda that is being sold for around $130 to your door on the bay you'll find it will fit straight on.
The only thing is they come with the 19mm / 3/4 inch size shaft only. The base sizing is all the same industry standard along with the height from base to centre of shaft. If these were different they'd never have sold the millions that they do as the fit is universal.
Cheers, BB.
PS. do not buy anything higher than the 5.5 rating.

Ended up fitting the new briggs and stratton engine, went straight on with no issues. Just a minor adjustment to ensure the clutch was engaging correctly,l with tightning the screw on the clutch lever. Very happy with how it runs.
