I have just purchased a second hand Homelite chain saw. Not sure of the model because it is back in the shop. I have not used it but the oil reservoir has leaked all over the garage floor. The place where I bought it has told me that all Homelite as well as three other brands leak from the oil reservoir when it is left to sit. Can anyone tell me if this is true. I have borrowed several different brand chainsaws in the past and never noticed this with any of them.

It has to do with what weight oil your using. If it`s too light it wil leak. Also if your oiler is out of adjustment (too far open) The adjustment is down by the bar. Mike, mk.farnam@gateway.net

Some HOMELITES use pressure in the oiltank, others use a gear driven pump so several factors can cause a leak or siphoning of the oil.
Need to know which model you have to give a good answer...
