Firstly - Hullo to you all.

I run a Mens Shed for War Veterans called "VETERANS MENS SHED KINGSEY".

We are restoring an Alroh 20 inch cut. On the serial number plate it has 17DBD.

Can I ask please: what does the 17 indicate as it is a 20 inch cut?

It has a B & S 4 HP engine dated 1975. Also on the tag is the Subiaco address where Alroh started up.

Can I also assume that this mower is an early 70's machine?

Looking for some help please.

Hello Old Baldy
Welcome to these forums!

We have little to go on - but something is something wrong with the SN Plate.
'17' most definitely is a cutting width signifier of 17" - not 20".
'B' is for Briggs, and the last 'D' might be double roller?
Does the machine have two clutches?

If the engine is original, Briggs' Model, Type, Code is as close as you'll get
to production year.

Unfortunately we do not have a lot of info. on the Alroh.

Hi Jack,
Thanks for your time & short article.
It does have "Made at the Subiaco address" & together with the dated engine it must be an early 1970's machine. The rear drum is a one piece unit. Yes, very strange that it has a 17 on the plate when it's a 20 inch - maybe a 'friday' job in the factory???
The beauty about this machine is that all cad plated parts are still like new - no rust. and also that the cylinder has never had a sharpen - engine runs like a dream too.
Again - thanks.
Peter.

Hi - I'm back again. I hope some one can answer this for me please. The Shed has another 20 inch Alroh to restore. I've been trying to obtain a parts diagram or photographs of the drive chain set-up. The manufacture tag is "20BDB Ser No: 8841858" Made in Subiaco WA. So it's an oldy. Cheers Peter.
