HI all,
I've got a Victa MSV562 which comes standard with 2 blades and an oval blade holder. I wanted to convert this to a 4 blade holder with 4 blades, keeping the same cutting size (22"), and the same mulching ability.
What blades and blade holder should I be using?
Cheers in advance,
Paul

That is interesting Paul, so Victa went back to the old faithful oval blade holder instead of the round one they used on the earlier ones. They used a round disc on many of the earlier 18 inch mowers so they are not too hard to come by, just make sure the center hole and blade mounting holes have not been flogged out .Blades are from the 600 slasher and are 140mm center to end, this is how they get the wider cut

Hi Paul another thing I just remembered with the blade carrier I have found on a couple of them that they put an extra strip of steel through the middle of it and to allow for the extra thickness the fitted a blade boss with slightly longer tangs on it. You can either replace the blade boss or fit a thick washer on the underside of the blade carrier

Hi Norm,
Thanks for that info. Do you know the part numbers I should be getting? I've not yet had to purchase blades for this mower and while I can find the original blades, if I go for an 18" carrier, do I need to put longer blades on so it meets up with the 22" width? Or do I need a wider carrier? If so, what part numbers should I be looking at?
If I can I want to order everything today or tomorrow so I can fit it all and use it this coming weekend (Providing it doesn't rain in Sydney again haha).
Cheers.

Hi Paul you might be struggling to get the bits in a hurry for the weekend unless you end up paying top dollar locally somewhere. Blades you might be able to get from the ODK store (postage time will be the problem) and the same with these from ebay Melbourne supplier. /www.ebay.com.au/itm/Victa-22-30-Inch-4-Blade-Kit-Suit-Super-24-600-Slashers/302679211940? These blades being longer give you the cutting width you need using the 18 inch carrier. I will see what carriers are out there I should have some round ones here but again you won't be cutting the grass this weekend This is the type of blade carrier you want but this one is no good because the blade bolt hole at the top has been flogged out so you can only fit 2 blades on this carrier www.ebay.com.au/itm/Genuine-Victa-Blade-Carrier-Disc-Quad-Disc-Blades/302422351257?This is a better option and it is new /www.ebay.com.au/itm/Victa-GENUINE-lawnmower-cutting-disc-Blade-carrier-FITS-BOTH-18-AND-19-de/292757874632?

Hi Norm, As I understand it, the commercial series come with reinforced centres (I'm assuming simply because they're commercial models). So the original part number is CA09463G. According to the link below, I assume I should get CA09428G, however, when searching that I don't find any parts. https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/images/files/Blade%20Disc.pdfIf I instead go for a non-reinforced centre, I would imagine I should be going for CA09444G, which also has the additional wings on top of the disk which (As I understand it) are required to ensure mulching occurs correctly. That said, disc CA09459G is for 19" models, and the thing that's getting me is that the blades for the 19" models appear to be the same length as the blades for the 22" models, and the discs above (CA09463G, CA09428G & CA09444G) all appear to be for 18" models, I may be wrong here. So the thing that's confusing is, how does all of that add up to a 22" cut width? If I go for the disc with the wings, will that hit the chassis or interfere in any way? Will it be strong enough? Should I be trying to special order CA09428G from somewhere? Without physically having all of these parts in front of me and being able to measure them it's difficult to line it all up and make sense of it haha.

Hi Paul you can try an hunt down a heavier disc if you want, the standard disc will stand up ok, might wear out a bit quicker, depends on how much work you give it,that also depends on how tight you keep the center nut and the blade nuts, these are the bits that suffer most of the damage due to things not being tight. As I said you need the blades to suit the 600 the 19/20 inch blades will be too short and will only give you a max 20 inch cut. The 19/20 inch blades are 120mm long, the blades from the 600 are 140mm long, therefore you get a 22 inch cut.

Hi all,
Just an update and info for anyone trying to do this themselves. The original disc in use is the CA09463G, which is 18". Using the standard long tip blade boss which was already on the mower, I've fitted disc CA09444G (18") with an M20 galvanised washer (To make up the gap in the tip) to the mower, using the original sized 140mm blades (CA09276S). I got the washer from Bunnings, it was $0.69c.
I haven't kicked it over yet though everything rotates freely and nothing is catching, I need to figure out how the pulley assembly all fits back together before I can kick it over haha. But hopefully, it'll be done by tomorrow. If there are any issues with it running in this configuration I'll update the post, otherwise, for anyone who's reading this thread trying to do the same thing, assume this configuration worked for me.
Cheers,
