Hi All,

Picked up this the other week.

Does anybody know what is?

The cover under the pulley is made from a shoe polish tin by the looks of it.

Any help much appreciated as always.

Hi Scott4571, what a great score mate, it's a little ripper.
I can't give you any info on the frame and base, but I can tell you that the engine is a 3.6HP BMS engine, manufactured by Boundy Manufacturing in Victoria and was also used on the 1955 Lawn Cub mowers.
Hopefully more info will come to light for you. wink
congrats again on a good score!

Thanks for the info mate.

The wheels say Brisbane QLD.
Other then that I couldn't find any markings on it.

I couldn't resist it, it was something iv never seen before.

Yes,

Boundy engine. The mower is a Pathfinder, made for Myers.
Who made it remains a mystery. Was it John Boundy, or did they
just supply the engine?

Very interesting, the wheels are marked Brisbane Queensland and the tank is the same as the one used on the Gold Cheetah outboard made by BMS. I would say that Boundy did manufacture these Pathfinder mowers and supplied them to the big stores. Just edited my post to include some pics of the tyres, made by Olympic Products with the John Boundy name on them. There was an Olympic Products in Robinson Road Zillmere where these tyres were probably made and supplied to Boundy in Brisbane.

If the Engine, fuel tank and wheels were Boundy then I am satisfied that the complete mower is their own product.

Hi Paul
Olympic Tyres sure had a manufacturing facility in Brisbane.
My eldest brother worked there as a young man.

Given your new information about the wheels, I am inclined to
think that Boundy made this particular lawnmower.

There is other evidence given to me in the gallery below:-

Love this mower!
The pulley itself should be a collectors item....then you have the shoe polish tin cover laugh

G'day Scott 4571

I have one of these mowers in really good nick. However the fuel tank in missing after having been loaned to someone by the previous owner.
I was wondering whether you could do me a favor and give me the dimensions of your tank please.

It's mainly the circumference I am after. I also have a Boundy Lawn Patrol and the fuel tank looks the same as on your mower.
Maybe Boundy used the same tank on their various mowers.

If I can find a fire extinguisher of the correct size I should be able to make a tank as extinguishers seem to be made of two halves welded together, same as the Boundy fuel tanks.

Thank you
Dan
