CyberJack has written previously about this Lawnmower Attachment in the Curios and Stories Forum,
Mowers The Odd Inventions.Here

I would like to add a couple of comments.
As stated in the clipping this attachment was invented by Albert Edward Young of Christchurch, New Zealand and George Gordon Holmes, Jun. of Pigeon Bay, Banks Peninsula, New Zealand.
A patent was filed on the 19th December 1910, NZ patent number 28910 granted and published on 4th May 1911.

CyberJack also mentioned that they were sold in Australia, do we know how successful they were ?

An earlier example of a Lawn Mower Barrow Attachment was invented by Herbert Malcolm Mcneill, from Whanganui, New Zealand.
A patent was filed on the 5th March 1919, NZ patent number 41389 granted and published on the 4th September 1919.
A USA patent was filed on the 23rd Sept 1919 and patent number US1338144A granted on the 27th April 1920.

Again, do we know how successful they were and do any examples still exist ?

cheers
Alan
