Hi, just new here.. I want to find out about the brakes on a Colt Major failing to hold on a hill.. I've had the brake pad repaired on mine and it still don't stop straight away when taking my foot off the pedal neither does it hold on a hill. I have tried adjusting the bolt that holds the belt pulley tensioner forwards and backwards on the floor next to where the throttle is situated but it doesn't seem to help. Does someone have any idea what is causing this problem?

Hi Wane72,

Here is a link to the parts list manual for the rover ride on: CLICK HERE

On page one item 18 is a rod so that you can adjust the brake rod. Try that and let us know if that helps. cheers2

Hey Bruce, so looking through those PDF's and found that my colt mower resembled the Colt73_7313.pdf file.
Just looking at the exploded view of the Drive System I believe all parts have been used on my mower.
Just not sure where the spring is supposed to be connected to and from.
I have the brake pad set that it touches both edges of the pulley. How much tension is needed on that spring.?

Anyone have any idea where the spring on the braking pulley bar connects to, on the 'blue' colt major?

My colt is not braking once the foot is taken off the pedal..

Probably too late, but is this any help? I took a fair few pics of a parts machine I grabbed.
