Hi Speedy, Mod BB and Paul C That's a generous offer for a freebie.
This is a classic mid-arch Mayfair base. Re-marketed as a Monaro and many more store brands.
The images are great for the record - they depict the die-cast moulder's art. Note the secondary skirt at the front, and partial one at the back. Also note the height-adjuster spring below deck. This was one of Victa's great chassis.
I thought it was the later red hi arch one. The catchers that go on these are butt ugly, but empty out well and are easy enough to attach back to the mower, once you get a feel.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
It went to my mates scrap new years money making project. I thought it would cost too much to send it anywhere. And it clogged uo in long grass up here, so that's the motor for my Green utility... speedy

I have an old 125 (G4 plastic carb -so not that old lol) on that chassis and it had the height adjuster tied off into one position when I got it. I bought it for parts but managed to get it going by replacing the needle and the fixed height is just right for the front lawn. It does a great job lol and chicks walking by always grin when I use it. Maybe they like the sound. I just can't bear to break it up yet because it works.

I broke one up a while ago that was in good condition, I wanted the motor and wheels for a Utility I was building and a bloke in QLD wanted the base and I had to deliver the base to the Melb depot of the transport co he worked for. Took me over 3 hours to drive to the other side of Melb to drop it off. At least it didn't go to the scrap bin
That's fine. It all got used in the end. My one has bald tyres, odd wheels with missing covers, tatty engine cowl loose fuel tank kept on with trimmer line and the heigh adjuster tied off elaborately with thin multi-coloured rope! I think passers by are amazed to see such a tatty bomb still cutting grass and this 125 makes a very sporty engine note.
