December 7 2016 - To celebrate the final season of Victa 2-Stroke Mowers, Victa is proud to present the AUSSIE 2-STROKE Range consisting of 3 new models, utilising some of the traditional colours from yester year, as well as some new.
I'm seriously tempted to get one. It is the last opportunity to buy a brand new Powertorque and would remind me of when they were on the Mustangs and Vortex models on display in the stores way back when. Plus, that engine cover has grown on me.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
I like the grey one meself. Ideally, I'd like to get one on the professional grade alloy deck.
I looked at the pro grade (commercial) but they haven't taken off for contractors being only 19" I run the 22" mulchmaster through out summer but the current one being the 567 model they fitted the old style oval disc 2 blade disc which doesn't mulch very good. As for the quality of the mower is extremely well built and will give pros many years of service especially as a slasher
Simply add another $150 and you could own a decent mower like a Greenfield and not a heap like that with those cheap steel pressed chassis' with the handles bolted to the top.
All I can say is good riddens to those things as they won't be missed at all.
Passed on a full crank at the tip today and instead brought home a really good Talon with a far better chassis, not that I like them either mind you.
Cheers, BB.
I live a 24 Hour lifestyle, but every now and again I seem to fall asleep, well at least that's what my wife tells me.

The decks for sure. I was astounded at the price. You are lucky to get fifty bucks for a sound one on the used market.

You just can't beat the quality of build and materials used in its manufacture.
Honestly Victa are just another piece of Bunnings junk now and have been for quite a number of years now, their engineering proves that without a shadow of a doubt.
Cheers, BB.

Sorry BB! I should have noticed the price difference.
My customers don't want catcher mowers so unfortunately they aren't an option.
I emailed Greenfield & asked them if they were planning to make a side discharge or self propelled version but I never received a reply. No surprise from Greenfield's customer support sadly.
I know they won't want to disclose details about a new model etc. but they could have tried to keep a sale by pushing the HD slasher though. It hasn't put me off buying a Greenfield but I really wish these Aussie companies respond to queries & not lock everything away under a dealer only system. I can't even get a parts list for an Anniversary from them!
Yes they're a fantastic mower - if only they didn't change the poor design to what it is today! I did one up last year using one of Norm's reconditioned full cranks as the engine developed a weird ignition problem even though the coil worked on another engine. The old engine still sitting in the shed until I have time to look into what the cause was. The self propelled system was missing but the alloy base was a breeze to use & cut through 3ft tall grass easily - I really missed handing it back to the owner...
The biggest difficulty would be finding one - any Victa like that are rare as hens teeth down here & if one comes up they sell for over $300.
The other difficulty is the risk of it being run on straight petrol as most people have been running Hondas for the past 10 years now.
LRT, not sure what you are wanting but I can't see why you would not go after a Victa 24. Big alloy deck with a 160 2 stroke , can't go wrong with these. Sure they are heavier than your normal mower but they sure get the job done fast. I think I have 5 of them here at the moment. Some of these are close to fifty years old and absolutely no reason why they won't do another fifty years
I know someone who is interested in getting a 24. I was just discussing the advantages of them yesterday with him. Pity you are in Melbourne and he is in Sydney town. He needs a rugged machine to throw though Lantana and whatnot on his steep bit of land on the north coast of NSW. This would fit the bill nicely.

I have had mine for nearly 12 monts now. Only problem that I had with the first one was the crank pin came lose and seized it all up. I took it back to Stanfords and they replaced it on the spot. I have had no problems with it since. Like my other mowers it earns its keep.
