I have a feeling that there's a threaded insert of some kind missing on my Rover Quantum xm50 where the air filter cover screw should screw into, is there a quick fix for this as I have no idea what kind if thread it would be, it does not look like any screw thread that I've come across.

Hi Tiger, looks like good old 3/16th whit to me. There is a brass insert in there. If you get stuck I have a truckload of the inner filter covers here

Thanks Norm, you're right it's a 3/16th whitworth, the insert got stuck in the air filter cover. I'll try and get it out tomorrow, if I can't, I'll let you know.

And remember Tiger, I have the new whoopiedoo Victa primer caps and float needles. These things allow me to sleep at night, so not only are they good for Victas they are good for my mental health

That is excellent news Norm! I have just been catching up with some of the posts and I did see references to the Carby Doctor. Now as long as the compression holds up and the decks don't rust the Victa 2 strokes will just about last forever. I'm still in search of some decent decks for the 2 mowers that work fine but are too rusty to sell, may have to chuck them out or give them away if I don't get decks soon, unlike your place I don't have the space. So btw how much are the primer cap/needle units?

I managed to release the brass insert for the air filter but it wasn't easy, it had embedded itself in the air filter cover which is plastic and no amount of punching released it, had to superglue it to another bolt to get it out.

Hi Tiger, don't even think about throwing those motors out I will take them because they must be saved. Bases are an ongoing problem for me, I have probably 8/10 sitting here needing welding up/repairing and that goes on all the time. I probably have 50 more motors here than I have bases so it is a never ending battle. With the primer caps/needles I had to buy $820 worth to get them at a price that I could afford to fit them to mowers, otherwise it is a pointless exercise I have bases sort of covered by repairing them, but it does take time to fix them, primer caps/float needles are no longer an issue, so that leaves me with the last problem, I need 400 Victa wheels and that is what usually prevents me from building them

Should say Norm that the motors are not Powertorques, they are the machines I wrote about earlier where I was in search for a couple of compatible decks.

Ok Tiger I think I remember something about that, I only fit Powertorques on the Victa bases because they are hard to come by, I have plenty of other bases to throw a 4 stroke on. A bloke dropped off a Victa with a Tecumesh on it today and my eyes lit up because it had good wheels and non rusted base. Ripped the motor off instantly, I don't bother with the Tecumesh because nearly every time the carby is not worth wasting time on
