Hello everyone,

I have a honda HRU195D and while trying to replace the pull cord the recoil stopped winding.. Is there a way for me undo the recoil mechanism on these as there does not seem to be any bolts etc.. Engine is a GXV140.

Remove the Phillips screw and remove the plastic dish, underneath it you will find the 3 nuts that hold the starter on.

There is no phillips screw.. It seems like it has been factory sealed with some type of a pop rivet

Well, take a couple of photos and we'll see if we can come up with another solution.

OP seems to have gone awol. For anyone else after a cheap and easy fix for a bad recoil, most recoils from Chonda engines will bolt directly onto the Honda engine.

These engines are everywhere on heaps of different brand mowers. Your local junkyard or recycling centre will surely have a few for parts.
