Hi Norm thanks for that concern.
I encourage mods to take breaks from time to time. I hope he is okay too!
All the best. -------------------- Jack

He has encyclopedic knowledge of all things related to small engines- and automotive as well! I'm sure he is alright. I would like to ask the same of Blumbly too, the alloy thumb-latch Victa guru. Seldom hear from him of late.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Hi All,
As Jack suggested all of us need a break from time to time.
I've found times that I just want to give it away, but after having a bit of a break of say a couple of weeks I get invigorated again and ready to go.
Luckily my peak period is during the couch growing season and thus I get a bit of a break over the winter (dormant) period as it is now, thus not much happening in the Scott Bonnar area atm. Actually I'm kinda missing some action to be truthful.
Cheers, BB.

I am wondering what has happened to topics on Victa. They are getting like hens teeth aground here.
I think the peak of 2011 -2012 will never return.

I am wondering what has happened to topics on Victa. G'day MF and all ... I feel this is a great observation. It is something I am compelled to reply to. I have spoken to folks about what I have termed 'icon maintenance'. There is a whole generation or two that grew up with Victas. But where is the replacement ... ? Victa is no longer in Australian hands; nor have the current owners done much - or anything - to maintain 'Victa' in the AUS psyche. Victa is no longer an icon; it is an also-ran. It doesn't help that the iconic 2-stroke will disappear shortly, and no hint of a re-invention of the brand on the horizon! In other words: Victa is dead. Long live Victa! ------------------------------- Jack

Hi Jack, I'm doing my best to save and get back into service as many as I can and educate people as to what a 2 stroke mower is all about. The feedback I get from people is they are so surprised by the Victa power and what it is capable of after they have spent years pushing around all the other limp wristed brands and also the Victas with 4 strokes fitted

I would really like to say, "Victa owes you"! You do a great job in educating all of us. I hope the Victa enthusiast survives into the future. You are at the forefront, Norm! ------------------------ Jack

There are signs that classic Victa two strokes (and not necessarily Cortinas & Corvettes from the Skippy era) are enjoying cult status like old Holdens among the hipster crowd.
The columnist Tim Blair recently mentioned in Sydney's Daily Telegraph than w whenever he pulls it the trusty 30+ yo Victa 2 stroke mower at his home in Erskineville, it draws admiring glances and commentary from passing trendoids.
When I took out my old 125cc beater to do the nature strip, a group of young mums had amused looks on their faces and a young bloke couldn't take his eyes of the thing!

Many folk are doing the work for the current maker. I just wish there was support from them. --------------------- Jack

I just got rid of 15 mostly early Victas to somebody who wanted them for parts, they were a complete mix of them but I was never going to be able to do much with them, mostly because without catchers they would just continue being pushed to the back of the shed. I hope he can make good use of them

Funny thing is, if you saw another like them on the kerb, you wouldn't be able to load it into the car fast enough. ;)

Hi folks, Yup , things were a bit quiet on ODK, and I had a few time-consuming matters to attend to, so decided to take a bit of 'time out'.
Then was laid low for a week or so by a 'winter lurgi' - don't think the flu jab I had, just before it struck, helped with that...
Cheers, Gadge

Maybe a new topic of Where is NormK? needs to be started. I hope the new charge hasn't put off valuable members here. EDIT: I'm baaack mainly because someone put in a table clarifying what the charge actually is and what you get in return.

Sorry MF, have a lot of things going on at the moment and not able to do too much, and internet has been a problem which happened exactly at the same time as the forum change over. . Hopefully I can get a few things behind me shortly and the NBN will be here in a few weeks and that should help.
Cheers Norm
