The Central Coast Machinery Club has been given this Scott Bonner Model 65. It is branded Gavenlock Oval and number 4002. It was donated to the cricket club by Gosford City Council in 2006. It has now been donated to us. It started first go and cuts beautifully. Can anyone help with how to adjust the depth of cut? WE may have to sell it as we don't have room to store it.
Regards
Steve

Hello Woodsy
Height of cut is achieved this way:

Here are photos taken today. Is the Honda engine original?

Thanks Jack. It has been set for a cricket pitch and is too low for my grass (can't call it Lawn).

Hi Woodsy
The Model 65 has been little recorded, and it is a true,
but later model of the Scott Bonnar Company - but under
new management...

I think it was a GP model, designed to replace the ageing
Model 16 Queens and Model 17 Supercut.

I hope this one is saved - as it presents in good condition,
and has a provenance.

They're pretty good photos too, as we now know this is a 65027.
I guess this will have fewer number of blades on the reel?

I feel this machine has had a long life, but not a hard one,
and we would appreciate any images of the transmission.

Please keep us informed.

Hello Woodsy

Many thanks for the excellent photos.
I feel we better understand the transmission now.

A belt tensioner accommodated the reel drive.
An automotive-style plate clutch for the landroll.
This gave a true twin drive between reel and roller.

The 10 blade reel does suggest a cricket pitch.
Does Gavenlock Oval have a cricket pitch?

Cheers

Hi Woodsy and Mod CJ,

It's really sad that these wonderfully faithful machines just eventually get passed on over and over again. I wonder what replaced it? as I'm sure whatever has it won't be as a reliable of a machine as a Model 65. These were engineered to last and this one will last for many years yet providing it falls into the right hands I'd say.

I will say though that the market for these machines is really very very limited and thus it will eventually sell for very little money. I've seen Model 65's sit around for years as no one we pay money for them and thus they get gifted away as has this one. If they could be used domestically then there's an instant market but they are simply way to much of a straight lines machine and that's something the average garden isn't made up of anymore.

Cheers,
BB.
