my colt 5 is nearing the end of the mechanical rebuild all is back together ,new engine is in and bolted down ,only 1 problem the brake ,when connected up it locks them up so the only way to move it is to unbolt the brake lever then she moves freely ,there was supposed to an adjuster somewhere under there damned if I could see it

have been trying to get the motor to start, she won't go ,so now it's a process of elimination to find out the problem or if something is missing off the motor nothing was touched on the motor just straight out of box unwrapped and dropped into place .
does the cutting belt have a belt tensioner on it as the belt comes off when disengaged

What sort of new out of the box motor is it? I found new out of the box Chonda motors needed a whif of starter fluid to wake them up, pull them for a week otherwise

Check the valve clearances first. A lot of the Chondas aren't set properly ex factory. Then all the usual suspects like spark, fuel, plug.

the beast is a goer took some getting started but it runs real smooth ,gear box is a bit noisy so I will probably strip it down, what I did find is that the fuel I had in it , it would not start so drained it out and got some vortex 95 and after a few shots of starter fluid it kicked into life so let it run for a while ,so thats a nice result after all the hold ups along the way I'll get some fresh grease for the gear box then all will be good .once it's hot I can turn it off and it will start no problems, but when cold it takes a bit to get going then it is a new engine needs a bit more running time . and the pulley is the original back on ,I found a good engineering firm who fixed up and also made a new key way for this engine to take the pulley and they balanced the pulley. so if the gear in the gear box need any work done to them thats where I'll be going.

For sure, the original grease in that Foote 35 gearbox will have set solid - it's supposed to be semi-fluid. Here's the info you need on that subject; https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/78852/
