Hi everyone I'm looking for a victa cortina to ad to my collection, must be in restore able condition. Not interested in anything that is fully restored, restoring them is half the fun for me. I live in the blue mountains nsw but am willing to travel.

I remember you could find them dumped to the curb in every second street in complete condition. What a difference now. Even just over a decade ago, it was quite easy to find one but now we have reached the point where they are genuinely getting difficult to find but Ebay still has them (usually missing a catcher) and they attract multiple bidders if in good nick.
Fortunately for you, less than stellar examples can be had for low prices buyt you may need to hunt around to get all the parts you need to complete a restoration.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Did you have any particular model in mind,as there is quite a few different models? All in different variations. Also did you have a year in which they were made in?They started in 1964 and went into the 1970's and 1980's.There were even some made not so many years ago.

I'm looking for a cortina 2, correct me if I'm wrong I think these were made from the late 60's until the early 70's here's a picture of what I'm after. Found this on the forum.

That is actually a picture of one of my Cortina's and it is a 1964-65 Cortina 2 model 537,one of the first models produced. The first model 527 is pictured below. It is essentially the same it just has the front air box and not the air hose.

As I said before there was many different variations of this model over the years. The base stayed basically the same just adding side chutes on either side (Not on the same model though).
It just makes it easier if everyone knows that there looking out for. Not just a model name.Good luck with your search. You should fine one there is still a few out there to be discovered yet.

Thanks for the advice, sorry for my lack of knowledge I'm still relatively new to collecting these, I've found this on gumtree looks like what I'm after but I have a hard time telling the difference between this and the corvette, unfortunately there is only one photo in the ad, looks nice and crusty how I like them.

That is a much later model than the one we were talking about. That one is possibly around a 1972-73 Cortina victacode V110.That base during that time period was also shared with the Corvette 2.No difference in the base just a different engine number and different cowl.Other than that same mower. This model would of also had the plastic catcher not the steel catcher. That has been on Gum-tree now since 7-2016.So it my be a bit crustier than that now,but defiantly later than the 1964-65 model we were talking about.
