Hi all I have an E2000 Mk 2 17-34 and have just had the clutch corks replaced. I took the opportunity to replace the drive and cutter belts at the same time. The machine starts fine and moves well in forward and reverse. However once I engage he cutter the engage will lose power and stall within the first 20-30 secs. I am assuming the cutter belt may be too tight and causing too much load but any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

How much throttle do you give her when you engage the cutter.

Hello Kahuna, Norm and Buckets
You are obviously familiar with this machine.

I feel you need to isolate the issue - stalling most likely as
Norm suggests - cutter deck bearings.

Alternatively, transmission bearings if belt is too tight.

Please let us know what you find.

Thanks guys
I will be having a look at it in the next few days. Would the bearing issue only show up with the new belt due to added tightness as there was no issue previously? It is an annoying little issue for sure. I have tried engaging the cutter at both low and higher speeds without any difference.

I would not think just fitting a new belt would cause the problem if it was working fine before hand. What happens if you only half engage the belt?

Not sure if you have a manual for the old girl, so I will post the instructions and diagram of the cutter belt run, also according to my manual the belt No: is GT 18005.

Edit: If the cutter belt has been re-tensioned before, you can loosen it by reversing the tensioning instructions in the second picture.

Hi Norm
In my experience, not necessarily. blush
Fitting a new belt - and re-tensioning - may isolate a bearing ready to fail.
Over-tensioning of the belt may exacerbate the problem.

Many thanks to Buckets for the great illustrations.

Kahuna, please let us know what you find.
