Hello ODK History Lovers
The Stiga was a Swedish ride-on lawnmower sold here from late 1979.
Introduced into the Euro market in 1975, it proved very successful; so much
so that Rover Mowers imported the Park 2000 in its 11hp electric start guise.

This was a domestic ride-on with advanced features and specification. In many
ways, it was a wake-up call to Australian ride-on makers ... an impetus for
better features and better styling.

It should be said, though, that this was intended as a top-end residential
ride-on. It was priced above Rover's own Rancher (the dearest machine in
Rover's own line-up).

PART TWO - Specification
The Stiga Park 2000 had a novel feature: it was fully articulated ...
meaning that the machine could 'bend' around tress, and 'swivel' the front
wheels independent of the rear ones (for contour following.) Stiga weren't
the first to make an articulated ride-on mower, but were the first to offer
that feature on these shores.

The Stiga was stunning and stylish to look at and ergonomic and safe to use.
Consider the specification: electric start, large silencer, 5+1 straight
shift gearbox, differential, sprung seat, interlock safety switches, 3-blade
40" cutter deck, rear drum brakes ... and a halogen headlight!

This was not a commercial grade mower, nor did it pretend to be.
It was designed for owner operators on large suburban blocks.

PART THREE - Brochure
I believe this to be the first brochure offered to Australian dealers to sell
the Stiga here. This is a Swedish produced and printed document. Note that only
the top-of-the-range Park 2000 was imported.

As always, offered as a free download for personal use.
