I have a 10.5HP Briggs that is getting very cranky about starting. Once running it is prefect but I figure either something has gone wrong with a decompressor, assuming it has one, or the starter motor is on the way out. It has a new battery, new solenoid and good cables and terminals. It is hard to turn past TDC by hand even so am thinking it is internal rather than the starter. So rather than pull it down, I have been series-ing two batteries and starting it on 24 volts then immediately removing the second one and putting the terminals back to 12 volts. It turns over and starts in a couple of seconds so to make it permanent, I already have a spare battery, I am thinking of running a voltage doubler off the charge wire to charge at 24 volts. So, does anyone know what the maximum charge current would typically be from a Briggs armature?

Darn, I was thinking most electric start Briggs would have a pretty similar charge current but here are the numbers as they are stamped on the ID plate. 28B707 - 0115 01 - 94060 40
