Hi all,

I have a late 1980's Partner straight shaft brush cutter with a Kawasaki engine. I've recently replaced the inline primer and so cleaned the carbie which included checking gaskets, diaphragm etc. and although it starts easily and rev's up to half throttle, anything over that and it dies. It seems like it's flooding but as there is no adjustment left on the cable I can't alter the settings except to open the carbie even further. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers
Bob.

Sounds like you need a service kit or, better still, just get another carby.
Everything can seem OK when you examine it but the problems persist.
As carbies age and get problems, they can be impossible to get right again no matter what you do. Many people just get a new one.
Try a service kit first, if it is cost effective. That should work.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Thanks Mowerfreak,

I'll check the carbie type and then compare prices of new units over kits and if favourable will try the service kit first and if that doesn't work I'll order a new carbie, at least then I can keep the kit components for later in case I need them.

But all will need to wait until we get back from down the south coast, grandsons 7th birthday and then time spent with some of our family, maybe even a round of golf and some fishing.
