Are mowers even a target of thieves anymore with the incredibly cheap prices they attract these days. Would all the bulk and weight be worth it to them to try and flog off a dirty old mower? I think not. I leave many working mowers unlocked out of the shed due to space because I don't feel it is likely they will get knocked off. Am I misguided?

Nah, not so much anymore but opportunistic thieves still strike, the biggest targets for these thefts are from contractors who leave equipment in the front yard while they're out the back going about their business.

Collections are sometimes targeted, though.
That happened to ODK member Mr Davis a few years ago [2013], in the Canberra area. He lost all but a few, which he had stored away from his main collection.

The old Harley in my shed had me worried for quite a while, but now there is so many mowers stacked in front of it that it would be all too hard and then there is the 30 mowers in the carport in front of the garage that makes it near impossible to get it out. Takes me half a day once a month just to get my old Interceptor out so I can ride it to the club meeting and half of the next day just to put it all back

I know of a mowing contractor who stopped off at a Bunnings store to do some shopping, drove off and then noticed that a couple of mowers were missing from his trailer. And another chap who had his trailer stolen off his vehicle.

I'm building a mowing trailer for my grandson at the moment, there is a massive amount of work in them and my concern is it getting stolen. The cheapest mowing trailers you can buy start at about $3000 so if one is stolen with a couple of mowers ( think self propelled Hondas @ $1500/$1800 each) plus all the other gear in the trailer) and you have a $6,000/$7000 loss quite easily. You have to mow a lot of lawns to get that sort of money back.

One good thing about people's ignorance about the very capable Victas 2 stroke is their being perceived as old hat by the public. They have no idea how fantastic the half crank is unless they peruse ODK.

Whipper snippers are another matter entirely. They will grow legs fast.
