G'day folks,

Grant uses 'silensmessor' [a heritage mower make, BTW] as his FleaBay handle; he's also an ODK member, under the handle 'willingworker'.
His eBay store: http://stores.ebay.com.au/vintagemowerdecals/

Cheers,
Gadge

G'day folks,

I just looove gml's restored beauties but I also love the idea that some of these machines are still on active service.

I've got on 'old red' that I used to mow the tiny bit of grass in front of the house the day I got it home (1500km round trip!). I've not done so since as the tortured sounds from the dog clutch suggested a little maintenance is required. But I intend to keep that machine in its king gee's and get chlorophyll on the blades regularly.

Good to see your machine up and running.

Cheers,

P.S. Just curious, is that the original battery location? I can see a tray assembly in one of the photos.

The original battery position is underbonnet, thr tray you can see Prd is a add on. The original gears are worn to beggery and even though i have turned the gears 180 degrees it still has alot of play. I think that someone manhandled it when the spindles were frozen up.

The nut on the lateral shaft provides adjustment to remove the play to at least some extent. Some machines have a nyloc nut there and some don't. I change out to a nyloc nut if not originally fitted. Not sure how a plain nut was supposed to work in that location. Havnt noticed any other locking (staking etc.) on the plain nut machines.

Sounds like you have an engineering background so apologies if I'm stating the obvious.....

Cheers,

Its ok PRD, the play is were the teeth are worn or chipped, some of the teeth are pretty much non existent.

Would anyone have any pictures of one of the vintage greenfield dozer blades, like the ones that came with a super-swift or on the old blue rancher 2's. I would like to have a crack at making one for my mower so i can put the mounts on the front to good use.

I will be making a trailer some time using the axle and wheels of my old rancher which are at work but i haven't put any serious thought into it yet.
