All,
following on from a previous post I sort of hijacked ...

I've recently inherited my father's Rover Colt 4hp.
Dad remembered buying it new in 1980 for $300 and always called it a Rover Colt Major.
we built a house on 3/4 acre in '79 /80 so I think the year of purchase would be correct. it's on the original motor and has had the gearbox rebuilt and rear wheels replaced. My parents always backed onto the bush and it has been in regular use.

Just out of interest- can anyone I.D. The date of manufacture from the engine numbers? They are a bit hard to read in real life too.

Thanks in advance,

Hello Windy 6cyl

This is a 10 Series Briggs (Model 100902).
Build date - 17 August, 1977.
So it is probably a 1988 Colt.

The model plate on the side of the mower should say 7210
This is a Colt Minor.

Hope this helps.

Cheers Jack, much appreciated.

such a simple and robust design. If I had more time i'd try to make one on the press brake at my work.
