Hey, first post and I have a few questions about a Victa CE909A1 tilt edger I picked up the other day for $25, first off what size engine are these? 160cc or smaller, I can't find anything to confirm this, it does not have the adjustable knob on the front of the carby like some I have seen, I'm not sure if the guy I bought it off found it in a dumpster because he reckoned he could get it to run for about 15sec but there is a self tapper holding the white cap on instead of a filtered jet, he has replaced the white cap with a new one and it has the yellow jet but he had siliconed the O ring in because it leaked.

So I know I need at least a new O ring and jet (carby kit) but I also took the exhaust off and the piston is pretty badly scored and the cylinder bore isn't too flash either, I've ordered a hone and when it gets here I'll take the head and bore off to see just how bad things are, so my question is ...... is it worth fixing? I don't mind spending $100 to $150 to have a good edger (it has a new blade) or should I just junk it, the body and everything else looks pretty good.

I know slightly less about 2 strokes than I do 4 strokes which is pretty much bugger all, anyone in the Rockingham Warnbro area that can help would be great.

Thanks Tom.

not sure what size these are myself.i have a couple of them and also a powertorque one. there is as i emember a good post somewhere about them as i researched when i first got mine.
after a bit of fiddling i got all 3 going good.
they are worth keeping tiztom and not too difficult once you start playing around with it. theres plenty of info on this site about all aspects of carbs etc so do a lot of searching ,i am sure you wont be dissapointed.
i will do a bit of searching myself for you and get back to this. ive been using this site for years and still cant find stuff?? crazy

If my collection is complete ( then how come i keep buying stuff ? ) 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Thanks for that Gizmo, yeah I'd seen a few of those posts but still no answer to which gasket/piston/ring/gudgeon kit to order, they seem pretty cheap on fleabay, also obviously need a carby kit as it is never going to run with a self tapper instead of a jet lol.

Some good tutorials on YouTube on the carby so that shouldn't be a problem.

Tom.

G'day folks,
The Tilt-a-Cut edgers all used 160cc motors, be they full crank or Powertorque design.

Cheers,
Gadge

Thanks for that mate, most of the pistons I have seen all seem to have 2 rings but the edger only has one, does it matter which piston you buy?

I took the exhaust off and shoved my vernier and worked out it's the 160cc, unfortunately the hone I have coming from Ireland on fleabay will be about 2mm too small, might have to bend the arms, goes from 19mm to 64mm DOH!

What I really can't understand is I have a 50cc scooter which goes like poo off a stick even with 2 people on board yet these things are more than 3 times the size and only turn a skinny blade?

I ordered a $24 carby kit earlier tonight so see what happens when that gets here, I'm not taking any more bits off or I'll no doubt trip over them and lose something essential.
