Hi all
First time on the forum and hopefully someone can identify the Villiers engine I have recently purchased. I have searched on the forum with no luck identifying the model or year. I believe it is hard know what the engine was used for. Below are photos if that is any help.

The numbers I have managed to see so far without stripping the engine are:
On the crank case halves: 246X 10737
Barrel: C9095
On the crank case close to where the magneto is bolted to: 1731(faintly)
There are no legible numbers next where it says Magneto serial number

I hope to get the engine going if possible, it seems to have reasonable compression and would like to no what model it is before restoring.

Regards
Steve

Hello Popzss

This would be a Villiers 5G 70cc.
246X is a standard Australian spec.

The mounting bracket suggests this came off a Qualcast P2 sidewheel.

Hope this helps.

Hi Steve

Thank you for the compliment.

Basic wearing parts will be available.
There are a couple of AUS suppliers of Villiers spare parts.

Please let us know how the project progresses.

Welcome and what parts will you be after for your engine? If you are going to strip down the carb I would be interested to see what size jet and the number stamped on the needle please. If your not sure where these are I can help :-)
