Picked up this little ripper today plus a swag of spares going in line for a restore have a couple of questions :

Tyres are shagged can they be replaced ?
Rims wobble around on axles can this be fixed ?

How was the throttle cable originally attached to handle bars ?

Can you still get clamps for the snorkel ?

Victa Utility 509 in line for resto.
Scott bonnar model 33 already in pieces.
Atco reel mower unknown model is 4 stroke

Depends on where the wear is. If it's in the wheels, rebushing may be possible. Worn stub axles are a bit more difficult to replace, but still possible. Dunno about the tyres, but one of the other ODK denizens may..

It was run under those two heavy gauge aluminium ties that secure the snorkel.

Not sure exactly what you're asking here. The ties are the original setup for this long snorkel, not two-piece clamps as the later models used. Repros are available on Fleabay, but ain't cheap. A search for 'Victa snorkel' will bring them up.

What you have there appears to be a quite original Victa 18 Model Four Special, around 1957-8 vintage.

We have a bit of a megathread on the Model 4 and 5's, as the early Model 4's were built as the ill-fated 'Automatic' version. https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=73095&page=1

Should be able to pick up a good set of wheels for under $400.

Cheers for the replies it still has the aluminium ties wasn't sure if that was a standard thing or not it's my first model 4 . Axles seem to be good just the wheels wobble so might look into bushes but the rubber is definitely crap all cracked and looses on the rim . Will have a read through the thread probably will answer the rest of my questions

Here's another thread that's of value: https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/46756/all.html

The starter pulley on your machine would be a retrofit, but that's because it would have left the factory with the 'wire rope' rewind/recoil starter [don't think that Victa gave these starters a model designation].

These were a rather cranky unit that wore very quickly, so most were replaced with the simple pulley as fitted to earlier models, rather than repaired.

Gadge
