Hi I'm new to this group and restoring S&B mowers.
I have 2 projects a Model 33 and this 1 a Model 590.
Are the parts like the aly drive pulley for the cutting reel available?
Mine mower has used without the side cover in the past and has suffered a far bit.
I have a side cover that bolts but doesn't have the cutting reel disconnect slot for the lever.
I can modify but would rather have the correct cover maybe swap with someone.

Hi all
I have been looking around and it seems that this is not a 590 but a 430.
It has the cutter "clutch" disconnect lever.
The side cover that I have is from a 590 that doesn't have that lever.
Am I on the right track?
I can post more pics but they seem to big to load, is there a way to moake them smaller.

Hi
I worked out how to upload more pics.
Can someone tell me what model of B&S this motor is so I can do a engine rebuild, the output shaft bearing and seal is shot.
A carby kit for both B&S motors would be the go.

Yes, your machine is a 430 - an improvement on the 590.

The issue with the Diplomats is parts availability.
Nothing but the basics are available.

In recent years the biggest issue is the condition of the reduction
gear in the landroll. So, it might be prudent to check it before
too much money is spent. No solution has been found, alas.

Hi Jack.
Thanks for the heads up, I have very little back lash in the drive drum and the drive pulley so hopefully no issues, fingers crossed.
My 430 has a 2.5Hp B&S that has output shaft bearing slop.
The grub screw on the shaft coupler is missing and I would say for quiet a while that allows the shaft to wobble and tear the bearing and seal out.
After much thought I looked thru my collection of manuals mostly radio and car manuals and found some that may be of interest to the group.
I will upload pics to my post on model 33.

I hope this one can be saved.
These Diplomats have been recorded but less understood.
They did win an Australian Design Award; but I feel the
criteria was very specific.

I hope a member may offer assistance.
