Hey guys,

Always on the lookout for older and interesting mowers, unfortunately I don't really know anything about (older)mowers.. their history, whether they're rare and worth doing up.. expected price to do up.. expected sale price if choose to sell & at least make money back etc..

Is there a general rule-of-thumb when working out how much to spend when buying an old run-down, non-running, needs-resoration mower ?

One in particular is the VICTA 18.. came across one on Facebook, asking $50.. though have read others picking up these (& others) from Recycle centres / tips for $10 .. is it worth the $50.. or too much ?

Sorry for the small pic..

Widget, a Toe Cutter in that condition will cost you easily $50 because they are sought after that drives the prices. People do stumble on them occasionally but doesn't happen too often these days. Plenty of $10/free mowers out there but they aren't the collectible ones. All depends on what you want to play with

I saw the posts on FB and $50 is very reasonable for this one, looks fairly complete. If it's not seized it will probably run with a bit of work. I can't see the air intake tube, just check that the carb is still there. Not a great pic.

$50 is worth it, people post on my page about there $10 finds because they got lucky, $10 is a bargain.

Check the engine numbers too, its a model 4. If its between about 110 000 and 132 000 it was probably a Victa Automatic at one point in its life.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks guys :),

The serial he posted is ab 2769 .. is this correct or is this not the engine number? If correct, what model mower does this make it ?

Ill see if he can post more pics.
