Hi I'm new to Scott Bonnar mowers but keen as to restore and use the old girl on a small patch of Couch lawn around 20m square. I also have a model 59 I think... [Linked Image]
The reel is 16' tip to tip so I guess it is a 16"?
Any help with, as we're in W.A. I can't seem to get a catcher nor a new complete carby for a Briggs &Stratton 2.5 HP.
I do have some more pictures, but I can't seem to load them.
Cheers

Hello Banjupb

A warm welcome from me to these great forums.

The rear roller is certainly in great condition!
We would love to see more images though ...

Could we confirm this machine has a Briggs engine?
Yes, this is a 16 inch machine.

You will need to advertise in 'Wanted' for a 16" Model 33 catcher.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jack
Thanks for responding so quick.
I have more pics but can't seem to load them they are taken with a phone so may be too big to load.
Can you help?
Looking online it seems that the 33 was made around 1960 and over the years people may have modified the mower I have.

CyberJack looks like I got the fix for uploading pics.
Is there many parts available for 33's?
Also looks like there was many variants of 33's.
Cheers

Hello Banjupb

It's great you got the image uploading sorted, as we have
had some issues with this (using mobiles).

Your machine has had a makeover at some point.
The Model 33 (in all guises) was never fitted with B&S engines.

Yes, introduced in 1960, the Model 33 was the per-cursor to the Model 45.
It had a couple of design changes in the transmission and engine choice.
These are respected machines - and well engineered.

They re-entered production (alongside the Model 45) as the 'Lawn King'
In the blue search bar (top) search for Model 33 and Lawn King.
There is a lot of information on ODK about the Model 33.

Basic, generic parts are available - bearings, chains, etc.
Nothing is impossible though ...

Here is a brochure of the Model 33 fitted with a Kirby:-

https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/61309/BROCHURE_-_Domestic_Product_Li.html

Hope this helps.

Hi all
the below I found in my collection of old manuals.
The The model 33 is for 26/09.1967 onwards.
The Motor Mowers home maintenance guide is 1st edition. I looked inside but can't find a date.
The red B&S book is dated 03/1984.
Can scan pages later if someone needs a copy.

Hello Banjupb

Many thanks for offering to give back.

I have reproduced the second manual on this site.
The Briggs list & manual are on the record.

The BIG find is the spare parts list for the 33041.
It would be fantastic if we could reproduce it.

I will send you a PM (blinking envelope at top).

All the best.

Hi have emailed the best scans that I can produce, hope they will do.
I would like to credit my dad "Bill Hornidge" for teaching me many things one of which is to value paper manuals.
Dad liked to help out when ever he could.
Enjoy

Hello Banjupb

Many thanks.
That document will live on and be acknowledged with credit to your dad.
There is something overwhelming in genes - the father-to-son inheritance.
And credit to you, too, for helping the record!

That parts list is for the 33041.
My best guess is that this had, originally, a Kirby 4-stroke engine.

There is plenty of life in this machine.
I hope you find a catcher for it.

Please keep us informed as you proceed.

Did you ever find a catcher for your 33 Banjupb? Iļæ½m also in WA and have one without the catcher. Wondering if you had one made?
