Hi,
Great original condition mower, have you had it running? Hope you keep us updated, really interested in seeing how she turns out :-)

The motor has not been started. But i will as the project comes along.

Started on the fuel tank with grey metal primer and brunswick green.

Hello LDU

Thanks for the update.
The P1s [ or PM1s] are beautiful machines.
I understand that the carby and tank can be finicky.

I don't think Brunswick Green is the colour match ...

Cheers

Haha Brunswick Green was the choice after some hard deliberation with a spray painter over a few hours and some beers.

The colour I could get it off the shelf at a few local stores and not have to wait for the correct mix to be custom made all the time and have to use a air compressor, spray gun plus other materials.

Plus i can buy all the paint for the mower off the shelf for around the same cost of 1 litre of colour.

So here is the fuel tank.

Took the engine mounts off the motor and belt tensioner/activator.

The tensioner/activator was slightly bent from the years of use.

Coming along beautifully, are you having the reel and blade sharpened? Thanks for posting a pic of the belt, did you allow for the original belt being stretched from use?

The sharpening will come later after i put it all back together.

Im going to try "back lapping" to start with because the "bed blade" looks like its never been adjusted properly and the blades have only the smallest of nicks when its hit twigs or stones. Like it was just adjusted from the factory and used until it did not cut properly and put in the shed ever since.

The original belt was still tight to engage but was not sure of the slip it might have under load. Just brought a new one just because at $4 cant go wrong.

Have to see when i eventually start it.

I know it has been a while but some family matters have taken priority of late. Sorry

I have primed and painted everything except the reel/cylinder blades, handle and motor.

The handle will be last due to getting a Qualcast sticker stencil made up.

Thanks Scott

Watching for updates as I have had a Qualcat P2 since I was a kid (66 now). Its in original condition except for a metalic blue fuel tank.
It runs and mows fine. No catcher. I will probably sell it as is.
