What happened was someone got very carried away with their spray gun. As to the engines, no idea.

G'day folks,

Dunno what happened to rong but him and that machine have a lot to answer for smile

That machine and its thread were the first thing to come up when I started googling having bought my first HD8. So started my sickness!

That Briggs just looks wrong. The cutout in the cowl says that the original engine sat higher and more snugly.

They were sold in the UK rebadged.

Evening gml,

Not exactly full bottle on that. Gadge might be able to help.
Old 'sideburns' in the other thread is riding a Fuji. That gives some indication I guess. Note that it doesn't have the cutout in the bonnet like yours and rongs. Reckon this is a strong indicator that the rong machine was originally G65?

G'day folks,
Yep, the rong machine is a Super HD8, and as it has the LHS bonnet cutout, originally had a Honda G65 engine. And probably would have had yellow paint.

The Super HD8 series was the only one which offered the Fuji Robin engine option, AFAIK. It was current from about 1970 to 1974, give or take a year or two on either end.

rong hasn't logged in since 2012, and only posted in the one thread; https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/40749/1.html

Just as an aside, I've been wondering if 'old sideburns' might actually be Theo Reinhold? He would have been about 40 at that time.

Cheers,
Gadge

Dammit Gadge you could be right! If one imagines the man in the obituary photo with less 'middle- age - comfortable- living' in the cheeks, a set of lamb chops, dark hair and glasses and.......

It could be......

G'day gml, prd and Glo Mod Gadge

When I saw the title "Rong's Jigger" I thought it was some
fancy technical or philosophical idea - like Schrdinger's cat...
But I was rong grin

The Briggs engine cannot be original.
It presents as a 1950s or 1960s job - before including 'Code'.

I don't know about the 'Old Sideburns' theory.
The 'obituary photo' seems to indicate a plaited jumper style though ...

--------------------
Jack

p.s. Perhaps Rong's Jigger could be a medical condition...
example: prd and gml have accute Rong's Jigger.

This reminds me of the story of the patient who said to the doctor,
"Doctor, I can't get Tom Jones' songs out of my head. Is that common?"
The doctor replied: "It's not unusual."

p.s. 2 Hold on, Tom has lamb chops... Maybe ... Theo is ...?

Evening Jack, Evening All,

Now there's a thought! 'Old Sideburns' (whoever he is) ripping up the slopes in his cable knit cardi singing 'it's not unusual' to himself.

New research project there Jack! Does Theo have Welsh connections? smile

If Rongs Jigger is a medical condition it sounds like something your NOT going to tell the blokes about down at the club! As a physics theory it could possibly describe a hitherto undetected cosmic vibration which has hidden all the dark matter smile

Cheers all,
