If anybody is interested and they probably aren't, I have used a cotton bud with metho on it and that seems to have done the trick, obviously some old fuel varnish was making them a bit sticky on the seat

Ok so that was only a temporary fix, I can't be the only person having problems with the needles sticking up in the seat, there must be an answer
