Can I possibly get some info on what manuals I need to download for this particular mower ?
I know that I need a new cable for the throttle so any advice on where to get that would be greatful.
I also need a pull starter assembly for the motor as the previous owner was starting it with a drill and a socket.
Previous owner said that it was starting with the carby on and the drill as a starter but only if he poured petrol down throat. Motor turns over pretty easy is this bad ? What should the compression be like ?
I am in Mount Isa QLD so not sure where is the closest place I can get parts ?
All advice and help is greatly appreciated in advance.

This is basically the only manual that's available for the model 45. Take note that this one is for the later version with the Briggs & Stratton power plant and not the earlier Kirby Lauson unit. The priciples are basically the same.
As far as Parts are concerned in your area it will probably be somewhat hard. You'll have to source everything as new parts online from our online store apart from the pull starter mechanism. This will have to be sourced secondhand from a non working kirby of which there are quite a few around nowadays. Keep an eye out on Gumtree and eBay and you'll soon find one. You'll also require the cup that's attached to the flywheel which seems to have been removed on yours.
It sounds like the carby requires a full strip down and have all the various holes and jets cleared co that the petrol can be sucked up from the bowl on the underside of the carby.

Hello dallas. from memory there is a really good rebuild topic of this engine here somewhere. i have 3 of them and remember using it to help me out.i will try to find a link 4 ya. these are a terrific little engine and i did get some new carbie parts from the sites shop. the governor setup is easy enough too. found it here. https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=37746&page=1
If my collection is complete ( then how come i keep buying stuff ? ) 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Thanks guys..... I will keep an eye out for a second hand motor.... found a few all ready all in WA! got a mate over there will have to see if he can send one over. I'll post more questions as I get working on it. Going to get a stainless catcher made up for it..... I have a sheet metal mate
Hey I found a motor off a Model 45 No. 15953 but it doesn't have a Tag on the motor the guy said it was a 17" So that would mean it's a bigger motor... will I be able to use it for parts ?
What is the difference between the sizes ? Piston, stroke , bore ?
That engine doesn't originally belong to the mower that's in the photo as the chassis is far newer than the engine.
You'll find that the parts are all interchangeable. If that actual motor runs well I'd just swap the units over.
I guess I have to ask the question, is the engine and chassis that's in the photo in your posession ? or have the photos been sent to you from a prospective engine donor ?
Cheers, BB.
