Finished cleaning up my 1959 Rover today. Still needs s few little bits on it and hopefully I will get a catcher but it looks much better then when I got it without a cowl or handle bars.

That looks great!
That chassis would have to be the best original condition one I've seen.
It encouraged me to go back through my records and I noticed something odd...

Note the difference in the base casting below the motor, and the rotary
height wheel seems more forward on your model. I've never noticed that
before. I wonder which one is the older?

I have noticed the different casting on The Rovers before, CT_Mowers Rover with a Briggs and Stratton has the square casting while mine has the round, I have seen a few with 4-stroke kirby engines that were square as well. I came to the conclusion that mine was probably earlier due to alot of the others being 4-stroke which would have come about in the early 60s. Thats the only thing I have at the moment to say that its 1959, I haven't found any dates on the engine yet.
The casting on the second mower looks much cleaner too.

Also i'm not sure if you saw the 1963 Rover base on eBay, a member of both my page and this one was selling just the base.

Jack today when I was putting the green Rover away I noticed the Rover I got from Nambour that is missing its engine has the height adjustment in the middle! Maybe mine is later, during the 60s maybe.

Thanks Freebird! They are getting harder and harder to find now. The highest one on my hit list is the Wizard.
If I start to run out of room the Rover will sadly be one of the first to go . I already have a couple people waiting for if it sells.

Yes Kye, I understand your argument there.
Perhaps your machine is the later version.

My best guess is that your model was in production until the
end of the 1960-61 season, when the newer Rover Economy was introduced
for the 1961-62 year.
