So last weekend I was cutting the grass happy as a clam until one of the front wheels smashed to wee bits and it was all over. I just ground the welded on washer off to get the remains of the wheel off and looked at the other side. It is also welded on and the whole hub has worn away so I had best replace the two of them. The wheels on it are 7" but is this right? If so any suggestions what else used them? I can only find them on the back of my low arch bases.
Thanks

Thanks lads. I measured up a few different sizes around here but I just can't bring myself to do harm to my low arch favourites. Sounds like the only option is to acquire another donor......

I've got plenty of dead machines here and even have a 24" Flymo that has 7's all round, but postage to the moon is going to be a real killer.

Thanks Trev I'm in southern Vic so I reckon I could scratch up a whole mower cheaper than the postage and we could all always use "just one more"!

How soon do you want them Slash, I will be heading up to my mates place at Linton in the next week or so, if we ever get any warmer weather. I can cut across out through Werribee, then head out north west, from memory you are out that way. I could drop them in your letterbox because I go through early, I have to beat that [Censored] peak hour Monash freeway traffic. Just give me the wheel diameter shaft diameter and the width on the shaft you need. I guess you will have to drill and split pin them on so this may be a problem but I can take a bit off the middle in the lathe if need be

G'day Norm sorry for the late reply I haven't been online for a bit. Thanks for the offer but I noticed a low arch down the back of the scrap metal blokes yard the other day and it really would look better at my place. I patched up the 24 with an odd wheel to whip around the yard only to snap the [Censored] handles off down near the pivots so she might have to rest up for a while. I'm actually about 40 minutes south east of Linton.

No probs Slash, if you want me to weld up the handles for you that is no problem, the grass won't stop growing now that it is warming up a bit

Thanks Norm but I do a bit of welding myself. I was thinking of welding it up but it's rather rusted and surprisingly full of dirt and crud. I picked up an old base with the axles and handles from the scrap bloke some time back because the handles and pivot mechanism, while not 100% were much better than mine. Looks like it must be time to clean it up and paint the mower......

All good Slash, out in the bush you need to be able to weld bits up. I wasn't sure if the 24 had specific handelbars. Any time I have to weld that sort of tube I turn up a piece of rod to hammer down the inside so that it makes the join strong

Yeah Norm they're a wider handle bar and they hold the fuel tank. When I patched up another set of handle bars I welded a bit if sheet to the side maybe 3mm? could also use a bolt or something.
