Have just had this Villager with a Villiers motor dropped in for me to look over and see if I can get it running.
Compression test on first pull gave initial reading of 90 psi and the second pull hit around 135 psi.
Tested for spark, but there was none, although the plug in the mower is a RJ19LM. Not sure what it should be, but this plug is normally used in the B&S 4-strokes.
Motor number is 477X serial 102065 as stamped and shown in photos.
Carburetor is stamped V1447C.
Points are stamped Villiers England.
Appears to be missing some parts, but someone may be able to confirm.
First thing that may be missing is the throttle cable. It has the throttle connection on the handle bars, but there is no connection on top of carbie.
Here are photos from around the mower:-

First is the mower in full view

A look from above the engine showing Villiers imprinted on starter, cowling and Villager on base.

Muffler looks to be in good condition
[Linked Image]
Looking toward the head. Missing some cowling bolts and a rear wheel
[Linked Image]
There is no throttle cable connection on top of the carbie and the air cleaner is missing. Owner thinks he may still have the air cleaner, but not sure.
[Linked Image]
Side view showing glass fuel bowl to carburetor. I gather the air cleaner bolts to the tag just right of the fuel bowl. Inside carburettor is stamped V1447C

I am guessing the lever in the background is auto-speed control. If so, there should be a wire linked to the carburetor. If this is correct, that may explain why there is no throttle cable, but unsure. Maybe a bit of wire, such as a good piece of throttle cable, can be bent to length for it to work.
[Linked Image]
Front view of engine. Points located at front of motor under clipped cover. Engine stamped 477X 102065 on block below the points box.
[Linked Image]
Photo of points. When checking for spark, we also checked points, but they didn't seem to be moving.
[Linked Image]
Just an shot of under body. Blades will need replacing if I can get the engine running and any missing parts that may be required.

I have not taken a spanner to the machine at this stage, but it's obvious someone has as the front right cowling tag (near fuel filter) has not been bolted back in place.
From photos I've seen, the Torque DLX does not have a throttle cable but did not seem to have the glass fuel bowl as this one does. The Torque Master has the glass fuel bowl, but it also has a throttle cable. The Typhoon has a throttle cable but not the glass fuel bowl, so I'm a little confused as the what this one is, so it could also be another Villager model.
Any ideas on where, if possible, parts could be obtained and what issues may arise from trying to get this machine running?
Title of Villager Villiers Torque DLX, Torque Master and Typhoon used to help others find this thread.
Thank you for your assistance.
Regards, Daryl.

Hi Bushy,

Looks like an auto, make up a throttle linkage for the lever. I will find you some info on the settings for the points and plug type, remove the points and check that the small rod that actuated the points is free. Don't lose the rod as it might fall out, check the on off switch on the top cowl is working as well.

I have found the coil lead is usually buggered on the 7F engines so work your way through starting at the plug.

Good luck with the points :-)

Thank you Paul for your quick reply.
I'll have a look at the points set-up today after I catch up with owner to see he has to say and if he found the air cleaner assembly.
How lucky to find these just now on eBay with photos. One is an almost complete mower with exact engine number of 477X for $75 and the other is the 7F manual with photo showing the air cleaner and its part numbers. Having a further look, there are several incomplete mowers and manuals on their site.

Hopefully he will find the missing wheel as well, but they aren't in good condition and will need replacing.
Appreciate your assistance.
Thank you.

Hope this is helpful, my engine is running a KLG FE50 plug. I reckon you could use a CJ8 spark plug. I have some pics of the throttle rod to load after dinner and a note on the points view in the last pic it needs to be rotated for a correct view but in the manual it is shown this way for clarity.

With the air filter judging by the fact that there are 2 short clips fitted to attach the filter you would be looking for one of the smaller round plastic filters for it. If you find one of the larger metal filters just remove the inner clip to fit it.

Not really advisable, as the Lodge CN plug is 1/2" reach, as is the KLG F50 that's in your engine [yep, there is an FE50, but it's 3/4" reach...]. The CJ-8 is 3/8" reach, as is the RJ19LM, so they're too short.

NGK UK's plug cross-reference shows their B5HS as the CN equivalent, and those are easy to find.

Cheers,
Gadge

Good work Gadge, I will have to get a few of the B5HS for my engines.

Thank you for the additional references and photos.
I've seen a post on here somewhere showing a machine fitted with the round air filter, but no mention of part number or where to get one. Will see if I can find the post again and ask the member.
For the missing link from the governor to the carbie, I used a piece of B&S throttle cable and, before I read your post, by chance and a guess, had made it so it was linked in the full open position. Also cut the spring back a little as it seemed too loose for full throttle position.
Carbie and fuel bowl have been cleaned, but needs gaskets (missing) for the glass bowl and for thread to fuel tank due to leaks.
Rotated motor and can feel the points moving, so haven't touched them yet.
Pulled the push-button kill switch out of the cowling, but still connected, and I could feel a pulse from the plug lead. Checked again in the darkening light last night and it bit me, so cut the end of the plug lead off as it appeared to be faulty in that area. Will let you know when I put a new plug end on it.
I also reviewed your other post (from Google Search) and saw your machine had the KLG F50, so I Googled a cross-reference and it gave these:-
Bosch WR8AP
Champion L90C
NGK B5H5
NGK stk 4210
Looking at your manual, the recommended sparking plug is a Lodge CN 14mm (sparking plug hehehe).
As Gadge mentioned (Thank you Gadge), the NGK equivalent to the Lodge CN is B5H5 also listed in the above cross references.
To help others, I thought it would be handy to list the details of cross-referenced spark plugs for this machine.
Hoping to get spark and then fit some skinny wheels from an old Victa Utility as the newer framed mower wheels are too wide to fit the axle.
Note: The old wheels are held on with the star clips where current ones are C-clip.
May not take much to get this going after-all.
Appreciate the help so far.

The round filter was mine, you might get one from John at rusticspares.com.au
