Recycling and Repairs
Hi there guys and girls,
I know this may be a dreaded subject, due to the predominately disposable nature of these animals, but as they are gaining increasing popularity in the publics eyes as a cheap alternative to a known brand (thanks to financial stresses on our incomes and budgets, as well as Mitre 10 and alike offering these cheap Chinese Clone machines to the public), what's the chance of having them added into a classification of their own to make it easier to hunt down information and parts?
There seems to little to no information on the internet in relation to availability of any spare parts whatsoever and, if something breaks, trying to find an aftermarket/clone/genuine equivalent is extremely difficult, if not impossible.
What is the recommended "Classification" for these in the Forum, as a search using "Rockwell" returns No Results?
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Regards
Daryl

Hi Bushy, these machines come branded under various names from different retailers and are all essentially the same machine with minor and subtle differences, eg wheels, handle bar configurations and air filters. The biggest problem is that there is no backup for parts. Most use honda blades, different bosses and blade carriers and slightly different governor control setups.
There are no spare parts lists that i have seen and spares availability comes through slow, painfully meticulous trolling of the internet to find something remotely close to what you may be looking for. Honda clones are made by a number of different manufacturers and as such may look similar but are different in a lot of ways, like sump patterns, size of bottom seal, and internal governor setups.
The best way to search for these on this forum is to either check under "other engines" or lawnmower frames etc if your query is not engine related. I doubt you will find much on the frames etc, due to the lack of spare parts available, but there are quite a few posts on Chonda engines under sanli, GMC, pope etc
Cheers, Ted

Recycling and Repairs
Thank you for your quick reply Ted.
I thought that may have been the case. Just confirms the fact that they are predominantly a disposable machine. If a parts breaks, or if the machine breaks down, the difficulty in locating parts makes it almost impossible to repair. Maybe I should start a Rockwell (and other Chonda variations) Recycling Centre just for the sale of used replacements parts to reduce waste. Then again, why bother doing that when you can just go and buy another new machine for $259. :-(
Appreciate your detailed information above.
Have a great day.
Daryl

Problem is Bushy it would be difficult to run a recycling facility in Aus because in many cases the postage would cost more than the parts
