Am I reading this right? I rubbed my eyes twice and it is still there.
Can anyone answer me what this is about please? As I can't see what the seller must see.
Here's a link to the eBay page.
Working 1965 Victa Corvette 2
I'm sorry $450.00 or buy it now For $650.00.
I know it's nice and I'd wished the one I had was as good, but what?!!
It's not new is? As it doesn't look new.
Here's is some pictures of it.
Can anyone tell me why the seller thinks it worth that much as I really can't tell why?
I could understand if it was a rare model, but it's not.
That's a lot of money for that.
I'm sorry I just don't get it.

Hi Blumbly,

It's very simple, some people try it on as they hope they might snag a sucker.

In the car game we say there's a bum for every seat, not sure what can call it in the lawnmower industry but one things for sure you can always start high and later drop your price but you certainly can't go the other way, in saying that I've seen some strange activity on ebay though where an item doesn't initially sell and then the seller relists it but raises the price. Go figure that one.

Cheers,
BB.

If its old they thinks its worth heaps. We all saw that Ogden Rotamatic "prototype" for $5000 on Gumtree.

Thanks for reading!

I sent them a message asking if it was typeo and if they had put one to many zero's on the listing. This was the reply I got back.

Hi, thank you for your message, it is that price due to being a working vintage mower, so a collectable that still works. Not everyone is looking for brand new, last working at my local mower shop went for $900 but thank you.
What I'm not sure of is,what was sold at a mower shop for $900?
Possibly a Honda self propelled. Not really the most accurate way to gauge the price of a mower.
In all honestly they will be hard pressed to even a $100 for it,but best of luck with it I guess.
Just something else I wanted to mention they also have it listed wrong,it's not a 1965,it's a 1967-68 Corvette 2 Model 543.

i dont know about you guys but the reason i can collect vintage mowers is because its a relatively inexpensive hobby.
i have lots of mowers but i didn't spend very much for any of them.
they are my treasures.
all of which my wife will happily get rid of when i am gone sick
if i could actually afford to buy an expensive vintage mower then it would have to be much rarer than that one.
Alas that's never going to happen for me.
and if i were rich i would probably be spending my money on more elaborate toys than old mowers.
So in summing up . i think that the real value of an item that you love, it doesn't have to be expensive to be cherished. party

True Gizmo very true, and I think that's the same with all of our wife's.My wife wants me to do a list of what each would sell for. That's going to take some time, and I think that is being smart. As there are many of us that just want to take advantage of people who don't know there value.
Your right though it is reassembly cheap and that's why were in it.

There is a saying in the motorcycle world, something like this "if I die I'm afraid my wife would sell all my bikes for what I told her I paid for them"

Yep I've herd that myself. Not going to be the case here. Most of what I have I paid less than what they'd sell for.Except maybe My Consul 2 model 511 I did step up on that one. However still could sell it at the same price I got it.Although hopefully I'll be around a lot longer and it will appreciate in value.

For such a bargain and it hasn't sold yet.Wow whats going on there?
Well ihatewetsocks it would be a bargain,at half the price....................................
..............................................................................................No wait at half of a half of a half.
Let me put that a different way.
Yes that's right........50% of 50% off 50%.
Now I'm not the greatest at maths but that should be about $81.25.
Hey now that's what it's worth.

I sent him an email stating that I had 2 of these in the same condition with exactly the same catchers and if I got $40 each for them I would be over the moon

I send them a message telling them that it's not a 1965 model.I see the add has been changed now to the correct year.I'm sure they must by now get them message that it's not worth that much which is why I don't understand why they believe it is.
